On the second day of Christmas North Latvia Leo club already second year in row were visiting the Children department in the hospital of Vidzeme to cheer up little patients and their moms. LEOs together with children were drawing, painting candles and making paper tulips. Some of the children also got a painted face and some an animal made from balloons. All of the patients received a nice toy and a cup.
On the 6th of June North Latvia Leo club members were managing “The day of big opportunities” in the summer camp for youth who come from social risk group (these are children who have had problems with law). The camp lasted for 5 days and last day’s activities were organized by LEOs. Together with the young boys and girls games were played to make them think about all the opportunities life offers.
On the 1st day of May North Latvia LEO club was heading to kindergarten “Bitīte” to help renovating its playground. Valmiera Lions Club has already a long cooperation with “Bitīte” so LEOs decided to give a helping hand to cheer up the small kids.
Since the North Latvia LEO club is at the moment the only one in Latvia all the LEOs agreed that it is necessary to hold a planning event where we would decide what kind of activities we would like to organize and what each of us individually would like to do. Besides this it was really important to also know each other. That’s why the monthly meeting was replaced by a 2 day long camp in the country house of Martins Mazkalns. To reach our targets of the day we invited a coach and lifelong scout Nils Klints who was giving us physical exercises outside to unite us as a team and also helped to structure our thoughts when planning activities for year 2008.
On the first day of Christmas North Latvia LEO club members were visiting Vidzeme hospital to give joy to the children staying in the children disease section during Christmastime. 10 LEOs were cheering up children with the juices from Pure food, mandarins and games. Together with the kids LEOs were painting candles, drawing cards, making Christmas tattoos and paper tulips.
Donation for Association for Latvian Children with Physical Disabilities was presented by our brothers from Lions Club Riga Amunds Liepiņš, Jānis Puriņš and Peteris Dundurs.
The choir of Liepajas Central Elementary school who has sucessfully participated in various competitions was donated gowns for the girls by our Lions club.
Valmiera Lions Club in cooperation with the Moscow Lions Club organize charity concert in Valmiera St. Simana church on the 24th of July at 18:00. It devoted to disabled children from Vaivari elementary school.
Concert participate by mezzo-soprano Vera Mihailova (Russia), by Valmiera choir "Kaķi" and by children choir from Vaivari elementary school.
