 The October 15 is declared as an “International White Cane Safety Day”. Events regarding this day are organized in Latvia nine years. In Latvia there are about 11 000 persons suffered with eye deceases. Blindness is one the most severe disablement form.

| Latvia LIONS Convention will take place in Valmiera, May 31, 2008, at 3:00 PM

| As one of our members, Liene is not only a teacher, but also peer educator on topic HIV/AIDS, then club supported her initiative to visit schools in Valmiera region and tell pupils about this topic.

| First activity of newly created Leo club was together with Lions club Valmiera on December 18th, when Lions visited the kindergarten “Bitite” for children with vision problems donating then glasses and other presents for Christmas.

| We had our second activity, when NLLC visited Children department of Valmiera hospital on 25th of December.

 LC „Rigas Liepa” organizes spring-like promenade around the Riga Central parks.

| For whole weekend Leos went away from city to do planning on activities and getting to know each other better.
