Gospel choir “Sound of Joy” (Germany) performing in Valmiera
On the 31st of August 2010 German gospel
choir “Sound of Joy” was visiting Valmiera and giving a concert in the culture
centre of the city. The sonority of the choir was enriched with a live playing
band so that for an hour and a half the culture centre main hall was full of
positive music and sounds. At the end of the concert audience didn’t want to
let the performers go and they were called to come back 3 times, which was a
really pleasant surprise for the choristers. One of the singers, Achim, who is
also a member of the LEO’s in Germany, after the concert expressed a huge
gratification and was saying many thanks to the warm public in Valmiera.
The entrance in the event was for
donations which in cooperation with the “Fund of Valmiera district” afterwards
were given to the project “The School Bag” which supports school children from
low income families to get all the necessary things for school (pens, pencils,
clothes, bags etc.). North Latvia LEO Club, the organizers of the concert,
proudly can announce that altogether 250 LVL were donated which means that on
the 1st of September more than 10 kids could start their first school year.
Many thanks to the supporters for letting the concert take place
(shopping centre “Valleta” , local newspaper “Liesma”,” Artifex Plus”, The
culture centre of Valmiera and Vaira Dundure, “The Fund of Valmiera District”);
thank you also goes to everyone in audience who could find time to come and
didn’t spare the money for donations. But one of the biggest “thanks” goes to
member of the North Latvia LEO Club Ivita Sela who spent a lot of time already
months before the concert in making it happen!
