LEOs coloring the playground in the kindergarten “Bitíte”

On the 1st day of May North Latvia LEO club was heading to kindergarten “Bitīte” to help renovating its playground. Valmiera Lions Club has already a long cooperation with “Bitīte” so LEOs decided to give a helping hand to cheer up the small kids.

Thanks to the support from construction centre “Kurši” we removed the old color from the constructions in the playground – horizontal bars and tires and then painted them. Ivita who has graduated from arts school also painted all kinds of figures on the ground – butterflies, flowers, houses: “This will be like an eternal painting book for the kids. With crayons they can color them and when the rain washes everything away they can do it all over again!”

Before actually going to the kindergarten we had several meetings with the management of kindergarten and construction centre “Kurši”. These meetings were really important as the children attending this kindergarten have problems with sight so we had to know which colors should be used and which should definitely not be used. And from the other hand we had to know how to remove the old paint and which paint to use on metal, which on the asphalt.

The vice president of LEO club Miks Šēls is saying: “Actually it was relatively easy. I am encouraging also other young people to do something positive for their town and other people. Of course they don’t have a lot of money but if you have a good idea it is pretty easy to find supporters. We were surprised how happy to participate were people from “Bitīte”and “Kurši””.
